World Geography Jigsaw Puzzles Win 'Smart Toy' Award

Neenah, WI (PRWEB) April 25, 2006 -- GeoToys, LLC of Neenah, Wisconsin is pleased to announce that the GeoPuzzles, a unique and fun way to learn geography, have been honored by The Institute for Childhood Resources with a "Dr. Toy Smart Play/Smart Toys Award.”

GeoPuzzles, which were created by GeoToys founder Bob Galinsky to help his children learn geography, are jigsaw puzzle-maps of all the major continents, with individual pieces shaped like countries. At 50-70 pieces, the puzzles are perfect for ages 4-12. Designed by an art professor, GeoPuzzles are generously sized, brightly colored, and each piece is large enough to be easily handled.

As children assemble the puzzles, they learn each country's name, shape, and capital while they build cognitive, problem-solving, fine motor, and language skills. With GeoPuzzles, kids learn world geography while they're having fun.

For all these reasons, Dr. Toy and other experts have given the GeoPuzzles a thumbs-up. Matt Rosenberg, author of “The Handy Geography Answer Book” and resident expert at geography.about.com, gives the GeoPuzzles a four-star rating, while Geography World’s Brad Bowerman (members.aol.com/geographyworld) calls the GeoPuzzles “a great introduction to world geography.”

Geotoys founder and President Bob Galinsky said, “We are extremely happy to have the GeoPuzzles recognized by Dr. Toy as quality educational toys. Our joy and our goal in life with GeoToys is to help kids learn about the world, and hopefully this recognition will help us accomplish that goal.”

About Dr. Toy and the Smart Play/Smart Toys Award

"Dr. Toy's Smart Play/Smart Toys Product Awards Program 2006" was developed by noted child development authority Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D. (a.k.a. Dr. Toy), as a service to consumers who desire to purchase safe, affordable, educationally oriented and stimulating toys and other products for children.

The report is being released, according to Dr. Toy, to "encourage parents and teachers to focus on the value of play as essential to the learning process." She adds, "The Smart Play products selected from varied companies across the U.S., Canada and from other countries provide children with exciting new learning tools that will help them not only to do better in school, but will also provide constructive activities to do after school." The winning products include innovative toys, games, books, videos, audiotapes, software/CD's, crafts and other children's products.

Dr. Toy's "Smart Play/Smart Toys" award-winning products were carefully chosen from among hundreds that she reviewed at toy fairs, catalogs and through many other sources, and by using extensive criteria that she has developed over many years. Among the criteria are: safety, age-appropriateness, design, durability, lasting play value, cultural and ethnic diversity, good transition from home to school, educational value, learning skills, creativity, improvement in the understanding of the community and the world, good value for price, and, naturally, fun.

The second report of winning toys for "Dr. Toy's Smart Play/Smart Toys 2006," based on the newly released book, is now available to parents, teachers and others on Dr. Toy's Guide, on the Internet's World Wide Web. The free report is available by requesting a copy by sending a SASE #10 envelope to Dr. Toy or by logging onto www.drtoy.com.
